There is a moment. A moment at every wedding. At some weddings it’s during the ceremony. At others, the first dance. Many times it is when a father sees his daughter in her wedding gown for the first time. The moment… the moment when my work is no longer work. The moment when what I am doing becomes an honor, a privilege. At Amanda and Colby’s wedding, that moment came during the toasts. More specifically, during Colby’s dad’s toast. http://indigoskystudios.com/sacramento-wedding-photography/
I take pride in building relationships with my #kyliecomptoncouples. I love getting to know them and their stories during the planning process. As much as I focus on building those relationships, there just isn’t always enough time to learn every detail of my couples’ lives. So when I get to see a glimpse into their lives with their friends and family during their wedding day, there is nothing that brings me such joy. Colby’s dad was the one who gave me that glimpse.
As I watched through my lens, Colby’s dad told of how he came into Colby’s life at 4 years old. He told of the time when Colby asked if he could call him Dad. And the first time Colby said “Daddy, I love you.” I don’t care who you are, if you were in that room, your eyes were not dry. He then turned his attention to Amanda. He talked about how they surpassed every expectation they had for a soul mate and life partner for Colby. In every toast, Amanda’s beautiful character and caring nature were mentioned. This was the moment.
Amanda and Colby, you two are so loved by so many people. The love that shines above all, though, is the love you have for each other. Thank you so much for inviting me into your inner circle for a day. It will be one that I always remember.
